MASBURY in the Mendip Hills was the highest station on the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway.
This model is as near to true scale as can be achieved in the space available. The quarry is not geographically correct but has been moved from ‘off- stage’ to add scenic effect. The sidings on the Down side have been extended to give operating interest, anticipating later changes to the actual track layout.
Why S. & D. ? The railway when operating was host to many locomotives of many of the major and some of the minor railway companies of the United Kingdom. This allows us a great deal of flexibility of operation!
The plain track on the layout is from the 3MM Society and point work is hand built. The storage yard at the back is tracked with Peco system.
